Some assistance

Been doing some southern engineering lately. I am in need of two solid iron or mild steel cones. Bottom diameter 3" narrows up to 1/2", preferably at 45 degrees.

It doesnt have to be down to the thousand exact if its about 1/8" off its fine, although I do need the top small diameter to be pretty close to 1/2"

Its kinda holding me back on my project, Ive spent hours looking for some kinda cone that I can cut down to size, but to my surprise its has been a colossal pain in the ass to find for some reason.

I am a mechanic, not Donald Trump, keep that in mind.

Are there any blacksmiths/ cast iron maker, who could (probably easier to cast) that could do this for me? I am looking for working class prices..

Thanks for any help.

A 45º angle is pretty steep for a smithing mandrel.

Were I you, I'd head down to your local high school and ask them to turn you a pair of cones on their lathes. They can do it to a very fine degree of finish and they do the work for very very cheap. The kids are always needing a project, especially something as simple as you're wanting and which can be produced in a single class period.

It will cost you however much the metal costs, for sure. You might be asked to make a donation to the class or bring back whatever you're building so the kids can see the cones at work.

Definitely worth checking into.

Anyone with a metal lathe can turn those in a short time. Order a foot of round stock from Speedy Metals or Online Metals and take to a machine shop or like Vaughn suggested, a local trade school or Vo-Tech.
You live in Baton Rouge - you are surrounded by machine shops, LSU, and dozens of places to have this made.
