The new Hiking Buddy is right at home here. I am liking the skeletonized 1/8 quite a bit. It gives the handle the fuller thickness without all the weight of the full tang, and the knife feels really good in hand. It has already hit the woods with me a few times, and it has helped around the yard here and there this autumn, the little one and I grabbed the last of the grapes for the year this past weekend...and grabbed a few apples and pears from the orchard while we were at it. Then it has gone on a couple of scouting trips with me as I try to learn more about the area before rifle season opens next month.

The dyed maple blends in well :)

You can see the patina starting to develop, service as a steak knife made a nice diagonal area at the tip.

Great pics, my friend! The one of your daughter holding the apple bowl is wonderful! GREAT COMPOSITION!

Thank you! Yeah, I liked the expression on her face in that one. She has really loved being able to just pick apples off of the tree and eat them, she has eaten three or four a day for the last few weeks. It brings back memories of my childhood.

I'm loving it here. I found a spot yesterday when I was out scouting and it was like finding paradise lol, no human trails in a very large area, and lots of huge maples and oks. I spent a lot of time just sitting there soaking it all in and enjoying the peace and quiet. Yep, she'll probably get bored easily once winter actually sets in good, but she loves the property here and we have a lot of projects planned for next year.

Love it Mist! I'm already seeing paradise: happy daughter, beautiful land, purdy knife, fruit off the land.

Thanks. After playing around in the popcorn snow yesterday, I have a feeling it may soon go from a paradise to a winter wonder land, but definitely paradise right now

Great pics. Looks like you've found the perfect place with your family.

Looking forward to snow here as well. Got a bit in the mountains, but nothing that has stayed on the ground here yet. Winter tires on all the cars so we're ready :D

Thanks, I am really loving it here so far, as is the little one. The missus however, liking it here though she is, is NOT looking forward to the heart of winter :) We've been getting sleet and popcorn snow the last few days, and a heavy killing frost on the land today, with lots of sparkle and glitter as the sun rose.

I was thinking about that actually. I finally got my "dream" fiddleback, a tapered tang Arete in scandi but the handle is still too thin for my liking. I was wondering whether a skeletonized handle provides similiar weight distribution with the advantage of maintaining a beefy handle!?

Thanks mistwalker for mentioning it!

All these great pics make me feel a little inadequate in photo posting! LOL

Thank you, but no call for inadequacies man, I just play with a camera A LOT :o

Nice pics, nice Glenfield 60 with the squirrel stock too.

Thanks. Yeah, that 60 has been around a while and gotten around a bit. It was my father's, and this makes the sixth state it will hunt squirrels in.

id like to hunt some tree rats with you & make a pot of stew mist

i think it would be a good time

Sounds like fun. I made many pots of squirrel stew on the side of the Chattahoochee river down in Georgia :)
