Some Clarification Please

I first posted in the W&C because I know my temper can get the better of me.

I'd like some clarification on the posting rules that pertain to the sale forum. Mainly the rule posted by Glockman99 about the no chatting in a sale thread.

I find it odd to punish the seller for people posting in their thread and it takes away from a sale to have one thread locked only to have to start another about the same thing. Shouldn't the people making the out of line post simply be deleted or they be warned?

I read the posted rules about the sale forum and all I can find that might apply is to make the post count. I couldn't find anything about mods being able to make up their own rules? If they can... I can live with it, but shouldn't that rule apply to every post. I've seen threads locked after 4 posts and some with 60+ not locked in the exact same forum. I'm just asking for some consistency.

Thanks for your time.

Um ... are you seriously asking if the rules posted by the moderators in a sticky thread are really the rules? What do you want, tablets engraved in stone by the Flaming Finger of God?

Unlike God Almighty, the moderators don't have time to read every thread. If you see somebody breaking the rules please click the "report post" button -- it looks like a red exclamation point in a white triangle.

MMMM... yeah I'm seriously asking if mods can make up any rule as they see fit. It's been my experience with many forums that some people make up "rules" and they are simply that mods rules and not the rules of the forum owner/administrator

If mods can make up rules at any time I'd just like them enforced the same for everyone... not only when it pertains to certain people or manufactures

Raden:

I would suggest you alert a mod by "reporting a thread" to every problem you see in other threads. This will ensure the rules are applied evenly. That must have been what happened when my trade thread got locked because of a couple of posts from other people...

I've "reported" a few threads before; I will be much more diligent in the future.

The answer is yes. Spark sets site-wide rules and sometimes sets rules for individual forums. But, the moderators set detailed rules for each forum

Inconsistent enforcement is a common complaint. The first thing you should know is that moderating these forums is not the full-time job for anyone. A moderator is NOT on duty 24/7 and even when moderators are around, they don't read every word of every post. If you see something that you think violates any rule, instead of complaining about how the moderators are being inconsistent or unfair, help the moderators out by using the "report post" button. Be part of the solution.

The second thing you should know is that just because a moderator missed something in another post does not establish the precedent that it's ok to violate that rule. "Well so-and-so got away with it," is a whine, not a defense.

Here ya go:

# Bumps or BTT style posts are only allowed once every 72 hours, per thread.
If you bump your thread more than that, it will be locked. New posts listing price changes, new photographs or information, or additional items for sale, answering buyer questions, or listing the item as sold are allowed and do not apply to the "1 Bump every 72 hours" rule.
# Buyers are encouraged to ask questions, however, For Sale threads are not for product discussions. Take it elsewhere. Do not chat up a thread trying to keep it at the top of the exchange area.
