Some Constructive Criticism

5. On my new minicyclone I like how you can turn AO off, but I don't like how you can only do it when it's open. Defeats the purpose for me. I'd keep it turned on for general use, but would like to turn it off when using it around people that might not expect it, or should I ever be stopped by a cop and asked to hand over any potentially dangerous items on my person. Forgive my ignorance if this isn't possible since I haven't examined the mechanism myself yet, but if it is I'd like to see this change.

The problem with this change that you have suggested is the pressure that is on the torsion bar when the knife is closed. If you were all of a sudden to turn off the A/O when the knife is in the closed position the torsion bar would still snap to the "open" position, it would just do it inside the knife without moving the blade. "Dry-Firing" the torsion bar like that would probably create problems for the mechanism.

Vivi, I too take the pocket clips off, and have never had a screw strip on a Kershaw ( cheap knives yes but not a Kershaw). Are you using the right size Torx driver? The finish has never yet rusted on any of mine (60+ Kersahws), altough I clean them often. I believe the edge profile is for general use and knife nuts like us will never be happy with a factory edge....lol...finally I feel the thumb support is located in the right place for me ( just got a groove last night and it is fine for me), do you have large to extra large hands?

....and have never had a screw strip on a Kershaw....

Most of the knives come tip down. I change them to tip up. Never had one strip and I re-use the same screws. I guess I must be using the correct size driver.

One of my EDC positions is IWB. Gets sweaty in the summer, but I've never had any of my knives of any maker get rusty. I use my Leek on a daily basis and it gets washed in the sink and it's never rusted. Sounds like a personal maintenance issue to me.

I know you're not trying to sound negative, but don't blame Kershaw for this.

I thought the same thing about the on/off feature of the cyclones, but it didn't bug me that much. And now that it's explained, I understand. Good thought MaxF.

As far as ergonomics and etc. Yeah, that's a knife-knut thing. Some people like to modify and change their knives. No company can make a knife that everyone will like.

The only problem I see with them is too many recurves for me, and no finger choils, except the MUDD.

I also never have problem with screws on clip. Only thing I do not like is that pivot screw looks ugly in many models - looks like it does not intended to be exposed by removing clip - like on Avalanche on black G10 big shiny screw head.

I use Gorilla grip green torx set - excellent tool for $10 and made in USA, so it works not only for 2-3 times but I am using it a lot after throw away about 10 broken Chinese made things...

Thanks, Vassili.
