Some Damascus "Kit" knives (My first knives)

I wanted to show off what I did over the weekend. I got a couple of Damascus knife blanks from Two Finger Knife and Alabama Damascus. I made some Applewood handles for the TFK and some paper micarta scales for the Bama. The next step will be making sheaths, I'm thinking leather for the TFK and kydex or maybe carbon fiber neck sheath for the small knife. I'll probably make some more scales for the neck knife, since they can be easily changed out.
Eventually, I want to start grinding, and one day forging, steel but for now I'm just trying to get better fit and finish on handles. I'm not looking to sell anything, I'm either going to keep them for myself or, more likely, give them to friends and family.
As far as the knife blanks go; both knives have beautiful patterns. I've found myself really liking the Two Fingers. I like the blade shape, the recurve and full flat grind. It also came shaving sharp. The Alabama damascus is also very nice and the pattern is very tight. It didn't come sharp but I was able to put a shaving edge on it myself. I will probably buy more blanks from both of them in the future. My friend is already looking at the Alabama Damascus tantos for an EDC. He wants me to do a set of paper micarta scales for him.

Really nice looking. My son and I worked on our first knife kit this weekend. Gonna have to learn to make a sheath next.

This was my first attempt at paper micarta. I wasn't able to find any info on printed paper micarta but I thought that it should work in theory as long as the images on each layer were perfectly aligned. You can see there is some shadowing from a tiny bit of misalignment. Also you have to keep a large portion of the scale flat or the image will distort. I used the same image through all the layers, not just the top, so the edges have a black and white pattern that goes well with the damascus. I'll have to ge a picture of the edges tonight.
If I do it again I think I'll just use one or two stratigically placed images so that I can give the scales more shape.

Both knives look great. The apple wood handle looks gorgeous and the paper micarta looks interesting, great kits and awesome blades. Great work!
