I was wondering if someone can point me in the direction to get a custom knife made. Some sites to purchase knives off of too. I am not really familiar with buying online so would like some help, thanks.

For factory made,

1sks.com - the owner of this forum, never had the pleasure as they do not accept credit card purchase from overseas.

www.knifeworks.com - Bayou Lafourche, Roger - my current favourite dealer. Also a paid dealer of this forum. Great and fast service, if you dont see it on his site call or email and he will set you right.

For custom made, go to the http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=741 and ask around and you will have a lot of response I'm sure.

Also visit the http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=767 for ready to deliver knives.

It would help a lot if you specify
1. usage - camp, skinning, self-defence, pocket carry?
2. price range - $50-100, 100-200, 200-500?
3. stainless or carbon - use or display?
4. stock removal or forged

The sites mentioned do take money order but it may cost a bit more to clear the money order. It would also help if you specify your location as local laws may apply and you may get your knives confiscated :grumpy: !!

I am mainly into Automatics, balisongs, throwing knives, and fixed blades. Really the whole package, I can't think of a knife I can say I don't like. Mainly the Automatics and balisongs though :)

Im only 21 so I definitly shouldnt be sounding like a --dare I say *adult*? But at 16 man you should be sticking to something other then automatics... dont be getting something that can get you into alot of trouble. Maybe a Buck or something not to big to draw attention to yourself.. also you prolly go to school so you know how that goes.... Sorry to sound like a old fart.

My parents are aware that I like these kinds of knives and let me have them since I am a well-rounded individual. I have had a misdemeanor, don't do drugs, I am an A student, and don't get into trouble at all really

We have a separate forum here at bladeforums.com for balisongs. Near the top of the topics list for that forum, you will find a thread called "Training Grounds." In that thread you will find an incomplete but still valuable list of custom makers currently soliciting commissions for custom balisong knives. They all have websites you can peruse. Many will have knives available for immediate delivery. And all will be happy to talk to you about your specific interests. Keep in mind that custom balisong knives generally start around $400.

Some of these same makers also do automatics. And most also make conventional folders and fixed-blades too.

i'm wondering, do online vendors require ID when purchasing? i've bought stuff before, but that was using a credit card
how do they tell if you're of age?

how do they tell if you're of age?

Mostly based on capitalization. It seems that today's youth are not being taught to capitalize properly. So, if the order is in all lower-case letters, they know you're under age.
:D
