Hey Guys hoping for some input from the hive on this.

I'm usually only a user of various production folding knives, ZT, Kershaw, Sypderco, Case, etc.
But I'm starting to look at purchasing one of these Bushcraft fixed blade knives. I do own some fixed blade knives, some Ontario RAT knives, a few Coldsteel Trail Master (San Mai) but their all fairly big.
I'm looking at the Spyderco Bushcraft and the Benchmade 162 Bushcrafter Sibert for starters.

Can anyone comment on these? Pros? Cons?
Or suggest a similar style knife that they have had great results with?

Why not start with the basic bushcraft knife and get a mora. Cheap, tough, and easy to sharpen. Plus if you don't like it your not out much.

Also if you wish to start out on the low end and work your way up you can get a condor bushcrafter for around 30 dollars. I had intended to go that route. Instead I got to looking at how ridiculously low some of the prices were over at the knife makers for sale forum and ending up dropping less than 200 dollars on a hand made bushcrafter. Than I was hooked. My second one shipped last week and is headed my way from the Czeck republic.

I would love to answer this tread with a simple, "get a Mora". That doesn't really answer your question nor does it help you.

It's not clear if you are looking for a knife to use for bushcraft / camping, or if you are asking about so called "bushcraft knives" inspired by Ray Mears Adventure Sworn Classic? I can't really help you with the second of the two as I don't collect knives nor do I have the disposable income to spend large amounts of money on them as much as I would like to :D.

If you are looking for a knife to use in bushcraft, camping, outdoors, and so on then I can tell you what works for me. I use four knives or cutting tools as I see it. My Mora either my trusty Classic 1 or my new companion, A Victorinox Farmer for it's great little saw, awl, and FFG spear point blade, a good axe in my case a Powr-Kraft Boys Axe hung on a 28" handle from house handles, and a folding saw I just upgraded mine to a Corona saw from Lowes. Out of the four the Swiss army knife was the most expensive, and all of them perform the tasks required very well in my opinion.
