Hi all , My name is Mark Sinclair and i am a seafarer by trade , i have been primarily a collector of blades for many years , in may of 2013 one of the friendly knifemakers from the west coast of Australia invited me over for a shed day , at the end of the day i left with a half finished knife with which i brought home and finished off , that was when the bug bit and i became serious about making knives , there have certainly been some challenging times but i'm pretty happy with the progression so far.

here's some pic's of my work ( in a sort of order of time line ) , comments and constructive criticism most welcome

thank's for looking , regards , Mark

Great looking knives with a variety of style. Really dig the first one, the Sienna, and the B&T.

Look forward to seeing more of your post. Hopefully in the Exchange! ;)

thanks Benchwarmer , i finished Sienna exactly a year ago today , the day my grand daughter was born (her name is Sienna) , it is my favourite too :)

Beautiful blades. You do some fine work sir.
That bird and trout is really driving me nuts.

just realised i havn't updated this tread for over a year , this is what i have been up to over the last 12 months or so.

i have picked up a few new techniques and made plenty of mistakes along the way but i feel i'm heading in the right direction , next month will mark my journey after 3 years that i'm sure i spent 2 of them hand sanding :)

the help/info from the members of BF has been invaluable so thanks to all , it is very much appreciated

Very nice work. I especially like the deck knives. Can't help it I like sheep foot, and Wharnecliffe blades.

thank you , i have made a few for the guys at work

Nice work! I bet you have no problems spreading vegemite.

lol , gotta love vegemite

From first to last, truly beautiful work. Nice use of steels & wood!

much appreciated mate , i really prefer working with wood over synthetics , each piece of timber is truly unique its own way although that may change when i decide to try bone , stag etc

Where did you get the spalted tamarind I really like that

i bought it from an Adam at Turning Timbers , he has an ebay store in Australia
