Some Great Pics From Jaeger

This past Wednesday I received an envelope of pics from Jaeger. They are shots of his collection of working knives. There are a variety of Khukuris that cover the spectrum from small to gigantic. Beautiful Knives.

What really caught my eye were the pics of his other "users". They're made by a little known bladesmith named Dave Beck. The "Tracker" and the "White Wolf Hunter" are two of the most magnificent knives I've ever seen. This of course is my own personal opinion, but I have to tell you I'm in love again.

I put Jaeger's pics (24 of them) on a seperate gallery so they wouldn't be slow to load. Have a look. I defy you to gaze at them without saying WOW at least 10 times.

I apologize for the delay in posting them. I use the scanner at work (when it's operable) and can only get to it when things are slow (which hasn't been often lately). I was also having problems with sending attachments on my e-mail. That problem is now solved.

Great pics Jaeger. Thanks. You made my day.

The TRACKER handle is Gourgeous!!!!! I didn't get to pic four without the ten "wows."

Imagine a Khukuri handle with the "finger grip thingey" (great terminology, eh?).

Blackdog, thank you for putting all of the time and effort into posting my pictures. I know you ran into some difficulties and I really appreciate you not giving up! The pictures look fantastic.

Dave makes some of the finest knives you will ever find. He is a craftsman in the truest sense of the word. While the pictures are very good they just can't do justice to seeing them in person. I did want people to note that the friction grooves that are cut into the handle of the bowie/fighter were put in by me. If Dave had done them they would be perfect.
I highly recommend Dave's work and would do so even if he wasn't kin.

Blackdog had asked me to try to get Dave to stop by the forum sometime. Unfortunately he is a bit old fasioned and resistant to hi-tech gadgetry so I seriously doubt that will happen. Anyone interested in contacting him please fell free to email me and I will put you in touch with him.

Wow I am impressed with your collection. Especially the tracker. Guess I just like weird and different looking knives. Here's a "knife" you might appreciate, the "Woodsman's Pal". I saw this at the knifecenter website. Haven't made up my mind whether to get it.

Meanwhile I'm so impressed with the Tracker handle I decided to show your picture here. Hope you don't mind. What do you think Craig? Would work for the WWIII mod. 2?

Hope that worked.

By the way, the Master woodsman is one of my favorite knives, if not my favorite. The pictures really do not do it justice and it is just a tremendous working blade. It is highly versitile, and tough as nails! Dave has some other new designs that are similar to the Master Woodsman that are really excellant too. Check them out if you get the chance. You won't be disappointed.

That knife looks pretty interesting Goat. If you get it I'd love to hear a review.
I think a WW3 with a Tracker style handle would be awesome!!!!

Don't think for a moment that I won't be taking that photo with me to Nepal. Yes, I love the handle. We'd have to pay homage to the designer by naming such a handled-khukuri after him, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind. Maybe he'd also have to receive a free one.

Craig.

Oh, WOW - I just had a GREAT IDEA !!!!!

I'll do a posting on it.

Well Craig, there goes my "custom khukuri" for the contest! I'll b seeing Dave this weekend and will pass on your thoughts and compliments.
The handle is a very good design. If you choke down on the handle so that our entire hand is below the extreme finger swell you can do some very powerful and secure chopping with the forward section of the blade. If you choke up on the handle so that the finger swell is between your index and middle fingers you can achieve quite a bit of fine control for more delicate tasks with the rear portion of the blade. I think it would translate extremely well on a khukuri!

Jaeger: By all means, DO submit the khukuri design as you envision it. If you submit it and it "wins" my purpose is accomplished (even if we do end up making a khukuri with that particular design feature - there's nothing saying that two models can't have that feature).
