Hey,
I have been considering buying a Randall for several months now, and bought my first on Ebay last night. I got a standard model 14 with only light sharpening and an unused sheath for $325 shipped (did I pay too much?)My question is this, Is there an established pricing guide for new or used Randalls?? I also wanted to know where I can find the prices for options on knives. I have found the prices for the standard models on the RMK website, but this doesn't help me when I see knives that are not standard. I also would like to find another used Randall, probably a model 1. Any help or info will be appreciated. Peace,

All things considered i don't think you paid too much for you model 14 these days because of the high demand and the model 14 is well sought after. Take a look at Nordic Knifes, they have Randall's 2003 prices there. Prices for options, i would call Randall. Because of the high demand that Randall can not meet the prices are usually $25 to $50 higher then the going price on most new models to get one right now without the long wait. BTW i would stay away from Ebay and look at the forums for Randall's.

On whether you purchased the 14 to use or hang on the wall. If gently used and taken care of, then you are probably just a little high on the price you paid....RMK catalog puts price at $270.00 plus shipping etc for a base model 14. But if ordered from RMK, would take 40 months to get it...so then it becomes an issue of what's your time worth? I have a collection of Randalls but recently paid $40 over "book" for a new model 18...but I didn't want to wait and the dealer had exactly what I wanted in stock.

When that fellow who has one on order and is wishing his life away hoping that the 40 months will pass sees yours, your premium you paid will make it all worth while.

Besides, in few years, the "book" price will probably be $400.

OK..I might have done better with this last purchase? What is an 18 grind?? I just bought one, new, unused model 14 SS, sawteeth, "C" sheath, zipper pouch, and patch for $330 shipped. My new affliction is gonna cost me dearly!! ;)

Ya did fine, don't sweat the 'change'...and realize that the seller paid to list on ebay, ($4 with pics), pays again when it sold, ($13 more), if he/she pays shipping that's another $8, and if you used Paypal that's another $12...

As to your new found love...."Welcome brother, ye verily, for ye have discovered the true path to righteousness..." :D

Just don't over do it eh? There are plenty of Randall's to go around...ya don't need to buy them all this week...lol

(Bruce Voyles once told me, "There is a direct correlation between how fast someone gets into knives, and how fast they get out...")

So, I'd suggest that you go slow...we did, and are now down to 'one a month'... ;)

To your question, the #18 comes with the hollow handle, in 5.5" and 7"...with or without serrations I believe, the a 'no sawteeth' grind on a #18 is pretty rare these days. The #'s 14 & 15 can be had the same way, and the handle is easier to grasp IMNSHO...

So, the #14 'saw teeth/no saw teeth' grind is the #18 grind with no saw teeth...prety cool eh? (It's really a super slick 'cut um both coming and going' design...)

Anyhoo, welcome aboard buddy!
