Some help please.

I inherited a box of "stuff", and these were in it. I believe the lower knife is from a cheap Cheese board set but the dagger I can not place.
It appears to have a brass handle and guard and is a full tang with locking nut at it's butt end. Other than that, what you see is what I have.
Neither knife has any markings. I thought the dagger might be a hand made, but it has checkering on the handle that has got to be machine applied.
Maybe a Kit? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance, Frank.

The dagger is almost certainly a US made copy of the British Fairbairn-Sykes Commando knife produced during WW2. These were notorious for being below the quality of the original British knife and production was limited to about 20,000 units. I've handled a couple of these and some can be quite loose but it's certainly an interesting piece of militaria.

The top knife is a fairbairn sykes fighting knife, with some quick searches you'll find it has a rich history and a large group collectors that could help you with dates of manufacture, who manufactured it, etc.

The bottom one is a Japanese santoku, well I don't know too much about kitchen knives but it's the same general shape haha. if your clean the rust off, put some mineral/linsees oil on the handles, you'll have a nice kitchen knife there.

Thanks for the info. I know the dagger is at least 30 years old so I will do some online searches and see what I can find out.
