Victorinox and Wenger have both made some IMO totally impractical Swiss army knives over the years. Wenger still lists their 16999 model with about 88 tools and 140 claimed functions. It is over 8" wide per the writeup on the Wenger USA web site and lists for $2149.95! A bit on the expensive side for a impractical demonstration of what is possible in a multipurpose knife. The Amazon price is ONLY $1392.
I actually have the Victorinox XAVT and XLT knives as well as the Wenger 16812 which is about as wide as the XLT. All of these are fun to show off to friends but are too wide for easy use. IMO the Victorinox Champ and Cybertool standard SAK length knives are about the widest ones that are still close to truly practical knives. In the longer size SAKs the Workchamp is still practical while the Workchamp XL is IMO overwide for practicality. How many people need a special blade for removing stones from horses hooves these days? The Workchamp XL has one!
BTW I picked up the XAVT and XLT when they were MUCH cheaper than currently. Originally the XAVT was supposed to be a limited run knife per what I read at the time and Amazon had a clearance on the last of the original run several years ago. I paid for the XLT and XAVT together about what the XAVT costs by itself today on Amazon. Expensive but not as outrageously so as the current street prices.
This is of course personal opinion and anyone is free to disagree with it so have at it and have fun either agreeing or disagreeing.
