I got one from a friend and it's BNIB and I looked it up and found nothing except that it is expensive at a retail price of $325.00.It's also very nice looking the SS shines and the case it came in it beautiful.
Can anybody please help me out.Is it worth keeping of should I get rid of it.I do collect but mostly tactical Fixed Blade Like Extrema Ratio and Master Of Defense and I also have about 10 Emerson Folders.

Thanks & God Bless

Yup, it's pretty useless. Send it to me, I'll be happy to take it off your hands.

In all seriousness, it seems like a very nice knife. The handle is made from ebony, the blade is a nice size, and it seems like it has great fit and finish. Definitely a nice show knife. I wouldn't bother doing much, if any, work with it, as it seems more like a show piece, and while it would more then likely hold up, I would certainly rather keep it as a "safe queen." If it was a gift, it was indeed a nice one.

Edit: It is definitely designed as a collector's knife. If you would rather have a user knife, or you just don't like the style of the Trooper, you could probably trade it on these forums for a more suitable knife, or even sell it and buy a different one. The cheapest online I can find is around $200, so it's definitely a valuable knife for some good trades.

Serialized...designed as a presentation knife...they go back aways...some apparently have blood grooves while others do not...if complete it should have an included card with the production date...a real hunk of steel! I also like the ebony.

I believe it is definitely worth keeping...I sure would! :)

Let's stay with this question, since I think some of the oldtimers will chime in with some attaboys for your friend giving you a highly rated knife. :)

From the Kershaw website:

1007
MSRP: $325

Description:

Kershaw's Trooper has proven itself for durability, functionality, and handsome looks. Made of AUS8A stainless steel with a 56-59 Rockwell hardness rating, the Trooper's blade, pommel, and guard are polished to a mirror finish. A durable Phenolic handle adds to the knife's strength and its rich ebony color enhances the Trooper's good looks. The Trooper comes complete with a presentation case, engraving plate, and genuine leather boot clip sheath. In addition, each Trooper is serial numbered.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Steel: AUS8A stainless-steel

Handle: AUS8A stainless-steel bolsters with Phenolic and drilled for lanyard

Blade Length: 5 1/4 in. (13.4 cm)
Closed Length: N/A
Overall Length: 9 1/2 in. (24.5 cm)
Weight: 7.8 oz.

It IS NOT a throwing knife......it is a classic, perhaps one of three of the finest production dagger grinds ever made, the others being the Al Mar Fang, and Applegate-Fairbairn. It is a worthwhile and fine knife, one that I would be, and AM proud to own. If you sell it, be prepared to take around $150.00-$175.00, unless someone REALLY wants it, in which case, you would be lucky to get around $225.00.

Best Regards,

Apparently the modern Troopers have phenolic handles...my reasearch leads me to believe that earlier on the handles were closegrained ebony hardwood...

It would be interesting to know at which serial number milestone the changeover occured, if indeed there was one...if they've always been phenolic, a lot of phenolic was mis-sold as ebony. :)

Pre-Kai literature, IIRC, listed it as "Grenadillo". It may have been ebony back in the Pete Kershaw days...not exactly sure....and the fact that it is now plasticized wood laminate makes it no less desireable, imo.

If you want a simlar knife like the trooper to carry. I might be able to find the agent knife. I a bit smaller I believe and it has a metal handle. I used to carry one when i work security in a bad side of town. It was my back up.
