Spartan Blades, that is. I got to meet and hangout with the guys from Spartan Blades. And check out their steel.

Damn.

They are using S30V, PVD coating, and some really interesting design. Not to mention, they know what works. Firsthand. Both of the founders, Mark and Curtis, are steeped in military experience.

Ethan met them Friday, and hung out that evening with them. I met them on Saturday, and laffed my ass off all day. These guys are great people, and they make some pretty badass steel.

I was impressed. I really wanted to get a Nyx.

Uncle E got a Horkos.

I've handled the Phobos a few times at my local tactical gear shop... wasn't too impressed. What really bugged me was that you have to put your index finger into the choil when gripping the knife, and the edge goes up right to that choil. A lot of opportunities to cut yourself if you're pumped with adrenaline and your fine motor skills are gone. Not really what I would expect from a company that makes knives which are designed as combat/self defense knives.

But they make some beautiful stuff, that's for sure.

i've fondled their stuff now a few times at blade shows...

very pretty, but nothing grabbed me.

with the name spartan, i was hoping for a Kopis or Falcata :)

I really liked their Wharncliffe necker, and it was only $135! :D

I was being serious. I nearly bought it, and I'm still thinking about it. If I'd known that was a show price, it'd probably be in my pocket right now. :p

Their beads rocked the house, and they were the right price. By the way, I AM NOT SUPPOSED to mention the bead mafia. :D

I have long admired their work, but I've never been able to commit that much money to one knife. I like the lines and the scales, both elegant and utilitarian. In the mean time, I may need to get my hands on some of those beads...

Yeah, I have the Helmet, and the Shield. Talk about well made.

Best be watchful, the Bead Mafia is everywhere.:D
