An absolutely beautiful knife. It has big ole slab of polished VG10 and a gorgeous blade shape, seems like it will be a nice compromise between strength and cutting performance. The lockup is great, as well as the detent; it seems very secure, but still loose enough to allow for flicking or inertial opening. The fit and finish is ok, the lanyard tube rattles and there is a fairly egregious grind mark near the base of the blade, but it is functional. I absolutely love this knife, but I won't have it all that long. It is going off to a good friend July 12th as a birthday present. He isn't really a knife nut, but he has alot of respect for quality cutlery and is in need of a good knife. He liked the Starmate when I was browsing for knives, so I hope he'll enjoy it.

I think Bob T's blades look wicked on a Spyderco...:cool:

Very knice gift, Bugout Bill! It's a good-lookin' folder and I'm sure your buddy will dig it :)

I have this knife. I absolutely love the way it looks. I actually did a acid/stone wash on the blade and it looks really cool. I have two gripes about this knife though. I can't get a decent edge on it to save my life. It's become very frustrating. Second, there is a distinct lack of detent. Like I can shake the blade out. It's not a deal breaker but it is a bit annoying. That being said, it's darn good looking.
