Anyone have a set of those $95 eyelet setting pliers, they worth the investment??
Also, I need to find a source for some 3/16" long chicago bolts and some black eyelets that I can buy by the thousand at a reasonable price.
Thanks ahead of time for any links or names you can give me!!

You might also consider using Oatey Brand orange CPVC cement to seal the edge of Kydex sheaths. AT Barr told me of this trick. You can separate the edge to be sealed and use some sandpaper to rough up the contat area...spread in some cement and clamp it. True to AT's word, the seal will not break even when pryed.

Other fasteners I have used and really like are the shortest glove rivets from Tandys, etc in black. I press them thru the drilled hole and the set them with a hammer on top of my anvil...the go real flat and look perfect this way.

Thanks Xrayed!!
I never thought of using just an adhesive.
By glove rivets do you mean the two piece kind that smash together?? These eyelets are driving me nuts. If I knew the eyelet pliers were worth the $95 price tag I wouldn't mind buying them but I'd hate to spend that much and it turn out they're junk like another set I already had. Handles bent on me and they wouldn't curl the back side of the eyelet right either.

I just started playing with kydex yesterday and I found that the eyelets I had gotten from Texas Knife seemed a little short. I am only connecting two pieces of .060. Does this sound like I'm doing something wrong? Or is known to happen?

L6....yes...the glove rivets that smash together. Just get them started, put one on the anvil and the other gets bashed with a hammer. Super flat and looks great.

The Oatey brand orange CPVC cement works great too. Just give it a bit to dry.

Insanity: The TKS eyelets are a little tricky and short. I used to push them thru the Kydex, use a broad pointed center punch to flare them out, and then tap them with a hammer. They used to drive me nuts. The glue or the glove rivets work best for me.
