Rayban that looks great, i like how it has the lockbar and stabilizer embossed (not sure if that's the right term) on it. Great job! going to click on your link now........

Email me and i'll have the guy who makes them contact you.

Kick-ass job Ray! What grade of leather did you use? 6oz?

P...I cheated and used 4/5 for the front and liner, and 8oz for the back panel. I wanted to get as much detail in the molding as I could..I'm not very good at it. But I think it will hold up pretty good, I won't be using it every day...

That's not cheating, that's good planning. I like how you embossed the lockbar and stabilizer; it makes for an integrated package. With all the details, it must snap in pretty well. Thanks for posting pics; I'm afraid you might have many orders because of it ;)

Yes. This is gorgeous. I just got one and would love a sheath like this. And any tips on cutting down the handle grooves- they are a little aggressive on the hand.

Thank you all for compliments on the leather....
Rocky...about smoothing out the scales...I have a belt sander that made very short work of it, but still had to do some hand rubbing as well.
If no belt sander this would still work: get some sandpaper; 220, 400, and 600 grit.
Lay the scale down on the 220 grit, on a flat surface, and start a back and forth motion...keep doing this til the pattern on the scales are gone. It will leave a smooth but still a bit roughness on the scales...go to 400 grit til the 220 scratches are gone, then on to 600 grit and it should leave a very smooth surface. Nothing wrong with going to 1000 grit for an even shinier surface. Use the 400 grit to knock off the sharp edges you have on the scales.
Wear a respirator or your Willie Nelson bandana over your nose, and safety glasses, as G10 has been known to play dirty tricks on some people. Try not to make a mess with the dust you work up.
Post pictures when finished.

Made another, this time with leather belt loop.

And Rick I will love it every day I wear it! The knife fits perfectly and securely and tight against the belt and body. A giant zombie could be holding me by my feet and shaking me and that knife is still gonna stay with me! The lanyard is perfect also.

It is absolutely perfect for the 550/551!

Great work! At this point I'm trying to make a case for my 0550. When I finish, I'll show you the result.
