Some little things on the hike

I took the boys out for a long-ish hike (a.k.a. a walk with knives in the woods) today.

It has been raining about 2 out of every 3 days here lately, so everything was almost glowing green! I had my phone along and vowed to take pictures of everything my boys suggested. By the end, they insisted that they add their knives to the photo for scale.

This is mostly just a photo sharing thread, but feel free to post up identification of any of these you are familiar with (some are quite obvious).

These are from the field we crossed before going into the woods:

Once we entered the woods, things got a lot darker...and it started misting.

The normally dry stream beds were all flowing

Now for the little things:

My kids call this this one "love 'shroom'" because it is blood red, and makes little heart shapes. If anyone knows a more widely accepted name, I would be happy to learn from you;)

This is a rather large (for this area) night crawler...a few inches of it is still under ground in this image.

This stuff was really neat. It felt like a horse's nose (velvety to the touch), but had the spring of rubber. It was almost translucent. I thought it would be gooey and slimy, but it was actually dry to the touch. If this stuff has a name, please let me know (until you do my kids are going to continue to call it "boing" fungus)

Looks nice! I'm from MO originally, the south Ozarks. some mighty pretty places to see...but good way to get et up with ticks and chiggers! LOL

Nice unit, unfortunately fungus is not my forte. Paw prints look like racoon to me.

I am fairly confident that the 'coons were really on the go. The deer tracks were plentiful also but didn't photograph well.

The fungus is pretty trivial as I am fairly certain that these are not among the edibles in this area. I am just curious like my boys;)

Is that fungus attatched to the branch, or coming up from ground?

Neat pics, nice to get out and not get rained on. Weve had a brutal winter, and a wet spring here in MO....

It is on the branch.

Brutal is about how I would describe it. "ever-changing", is another description I might use.

Nice shots of little creatures! Love them all, especially the frog and the forest shot, which shows the depth of your forest quite much.
Thanks for sharing, unit.

Great stuff buddy, I think that 2nd fungi might be A.Cylichnium.

Possibly, but every image that resulted from a search depicted a disc that (I presume) sits atop a stem or stool of some sort. These were more of a semicircle with no stem and were attached to the log like an ear (not like a lolly pop)...sorry I can not think of a better way to describe it...Hope that makes sense, and thanks a lot for contributing!

I should have taken better images...

Nice shots man, I love to just walk around the woods and observe all of the life.
