I took the boys out for a long-ish hike (a.k.a. a walk with knives in the woods) today.
It has been raining about 2 out of every 3 days here lately, so everything was almost glowing green! I had my phone along and vowed to take pictures of everything my boys suggested. By the end, they insisted that they add their knives to the photo for scale.
This is mostly just a photo sharing thread, but feel free to post up identification of any of these you are familiar with (some are quite obvious).
These are from the field we crossed before going into the woods:

Once we entered the woods, things got a lot darker...and it started misting.

The normally dry stream beds were all flowing

Now for the little things:

My kids call this this one "love 'shroom'" because it is blood red, and makes little heart shapes. If anyone knows a more widely accepted name, I would be happy to learn from you

This is a rather large (for this area) night crawler...a few inches of it is still under ground in this image.

This stuff was really neat. It felt like a horse's nose (velvety to the touch), but had the spring of rubber. It was almost translucent. I thought it would be gooey and slimy, but it was actually dry to the touch. If this stuff has a name, please let me know (until you do my kids are going to continue to call it "boing" fungus)
