Bobs post and Pic

Hi Joe! How are you? Here are some pics of the Bagwell bowies from the Paladin Press catalog cover that announced Bill's book in 2000. Paladin Press asked Bill for some knives to photograph and these four were sent to Boulder, Co. where the staff was really impressed by this quartet upon examination, I was told. We don't know why they are face down in the pic but this has been addressed today and the trademarks are visible now. The two damascus hb's in the middle are the first Bill made and were pictured in La Passion des Couteau the prominent all color French knife journal after the Paris knife show where Bill debuted them. They have 13" blades but possess remarkable speed and coordination once in motion. Next is a carbon steel Belle with 12 3/4" blade, brass spacer, guard, collar, pins and skull cap on the osage orange eagle head handle with amethyst eyes. Bill has some osage wood that is 100 yrs old and accounts for the rich coloration in his handles. Finally on the right side is a special knife I got to watch Bill make for me in Jan. 1999 when I visited him and Sidra at their home in Crowville, La. Bill took great pains to weld three pieces of damascus steel up and then do a fourth weld to make this "water fall" pattern a reality for a grateful Bob! Before the handle was attached Bill shop tested the edge in typical fashion; he slammed the blade into a block of osage orange wood which blew apart in opposite directions and blade sunk into his bench. No harm done! Bill finished the Dogbone handle with the brass wrap and sent it to me, flawless and keen. Cheers to all our Forum friends and to Joe for posting these threads. Bob F.

Nice fish, good bucks, and GREAT knives, and a smile on Joey's face. It doesn't get better than that. Thanks also to Bob for the photo and input.

You have been busy Joe. Beautiful fish.
Your frequent success in "bringing home the bacon" definitely demonstrates your keen expertise in hunting and fishing.

Nice Bagwells!

Those fish look like they're advertisements for fishing....beautiful. Nice looking haul for the bowhunters and those Bagwells....well, speak for themselves.

You sure covered the field JP.

Thanks,
Peter

Great outdoors viewed through JP's eyes.

Good stuff!

Best Regards,

Congrats on the hunting results Joe, the forum is fun, but nothing beats getting out with friends and family! Thanks for posting more of Mr. Furusho's collection. I have yet to see a Bagwell that is not the perfect combination of grace and menace. Something about the blade length and blade height that he achieves make them look perfectly balanced.

Looking forward to seeing more in the future.

Thank you Joe it was time to see a really interesting topic again, the beautiful preys and the beautiful H.B. of Bagwell
