Bruce you really need to write a book! Nice job as usual. The pictures are worth a thousand words.

To all you folks that like Bruce's tutorials,
and I think he will elucidate more on this, we need to indicate how many of us will buy a book he might publish. Why? To help convince
some publisher to take on the project. Also, I will continue to pester him to follw through with his tutorials on his site. I think he has a great idea going. It is in keeping with the spirit of sharing info among the ranks of us makers and I think is a concept central to building and maintaining a
strong voice against the fools who would steal more of America's rights and the majority of the politicians who care only for votes and taxpayer funded perks. Besides all the diatribe, the boy do good work.

Bruce, thanks so much for the information. I would be very interested in a book containing similar information. I think this would fill a much needed gap in printed how-to do information concerning knifemaking.
Concerning your oval guard with round balls on the ends, I might make a suggestion. Instead of chucking the ball in the drill press and using a file, you might try chucking the ball in a electric hand drill and then with the drill spinning the ball one direction, hold it against the contact wheel on your grinder as the abrasive belt moves in the opposite direction. I have found this to work quite well.

Royal 7 I never thought about that.I bet it would work slick. You probably get a better round this way...
Thanks everybody for the kind words about the tutorials.....Bruce

Thank you thank you thank you!

It is extremely generous of you to share your knowledge with the rest of the community. I'm sure that experience took years to acquire, and here it is, for all to share...

By the way, you make some truly exquisite knives!

You know, I have had the pleasure of seeing many of Bruce's blades up close. The boy do good work..... But! let's don"t make his head swell any bigger than it is! Just kidding dude. Call me, I have a couple of ideas about how you can publish a "book" without having to sell the idea to a publisher.

The tutorials are awesome. It's very cool that Bruce has taken the time to develop them and it unfolds to even more than new makers learning. It's really great to be able to point a customer to Bruce's site and say, "That's how I did the vine filework on the spine of your knife."

Yeah, it would be good if I created a site of my own to point them to, but Bruce has done such a great job with his own, plus there's always a chance one of them will decide to purchase one of his knives as well.

Keep it up Bruce, it is much appreciated.

I am really glad that these pages can help you guys out. When I had the idea for them I was just wanting to educate some of my customers,I didnt expect all the attention and didnt realize that they would be so much help to people,I have been enjoying making them and I dont plan to quit any time soon.I like when you guys send me your ideas or the way you do things because I am getting an education also, and hopefully I will be able to show some of these to people also.
I have no clue as to go about a book but I have been asking questions and looking into the possiabilities.
The thing I'm wondering is would it be better to do a Knife from begining to end or just do it like i have on the web site?
Any advise or comments would be helpful.....Bruce

I would have to agree. A nice step-by-step from raw stock thru final product, with lots of clear pics. I would buy one in a heartbeat (GREAT site!)- same with others like Tom & Jerry, Ed Caffrey, Don Fogg on the no-power-tools Japanese blades, Steve Johnson, and the list goes on...and on...
