I keep asking this question because I keep getting the same answers, I am looking for a new survival knife, 6-8" blade, fixed, for skinning game, camping chores and trapping. Can anyone give me any pointers on where to look instead of... Fallkniven, Busse, Chris Reeves, Newt Livesay etc, I am not afraid to try something new from a good dealer, Matt Lameys work looks promising.

I believe I responded before but I can't find the thread now, so pardon me if this is a repeat. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=269728&a=2006217&p=19563800&Sequence=0
Link is to a pic of 2 Tim Wegner designs (BladeTech). Top is the C48 folder. Bottom one is a Phil Boguszewski in 440v and black micarta. Rob Simonich also made a few in talonite. Came with a great BladeTech Concealex sheath with the great TekLok mounting system.
This design doesn't look like a classic "survival" pattern but I can tell you it is a joy to use in the hand- very ergonomic. Excellent skinner and all-around camp chore knife, blade is 5"+
Contact Tim Wegner or Victor at BladeTech.

Something in CPM-3V from Ed Schott, extreme edge geometry setting a very high standard for cutting performance while still retaining a functional level of durability.

Walter Brend 8 1/2" Model 2 in D2.If you ever hold one,you will know why.Les Robertson sold me my first Brend many years ago and since then I have owned many great"Survival Knives".But,whenever I go trail running or hiking I seem to always take one of my Brends(along with my Rhodesian Ridgebacks, luckily they come equipped with there own survival knives.
