Some New Ganga Ram Pics

I meant to post this thread last Monday 11/14. Then Tuesday, Wed., Thursday, etc., with each day being worse than the one before. Too depressed to do anything today at all but forced myself to go online and do something semi-productive (other than job hunt.)

ANYWAY, to better subjects. I received that big monster Ganga Ram last week, and took pics last Sunday. As you remember this was listed as 24.5" and 45 oz. and had the antler handle. I compared it to a 21" 41 oz. horn Ganga Ram and a 22.5" 42 oz. Wood Ganga Ram. All by Bura of course.

Here are some pics of the 3 together. I no longer have the horn as it is winging it's way to Kazeryu in Canada as I write this.

I also took a couple of pics with a BGRS that I have in 17" and 27 oz. that matches perfectly. Bura did these handles 7 or 8 months apart and they look like a matched pair!

I have to confess that I bit off more than I could chew with this one. The handle is very comfortable, and you are good for a half-dozen solid swings, but it's a handful after that. So it's a bit of a novelty piece, but I am itching to try it out with some more substantial timbers I have in the back.

Unlike some knives with a high polish, this one came with a surprisingly good edge. I might touch it up a bit but it is already nicely sharp.

Also the antler is beautiful and easy on the hand, but I would guess that the twin of this one in Neem that sold the next day might be easier to hang onto. (Just found out from another thread that BigJim snagged the Neem one.)

What else... oh yeah, the chakma is beautiful, as is the karda. I took a pic of those next to some other antler handled knives, a JKM and a Sarge for size comparison purposes. Great all around work for sure.

Thanks to Yangdu for coming up with another special offering.

Regards,

Norm

Sorry to hear your job situation isn't too good right now, Norm. :(

I'm looking forward to that GRS arriving, though. :D

I am interested in the blades. Did you etch them or did they come like that? They look like damascus.

Sorry to hear about the job situation.

I think the wavy pattern is just the side of his house reflecting in the mirror finish on the blades -- see how the side of the house has that wavy pattern done in cement/plaster/whatever?

I wondered about the way the blades looked too. Then I noticed that they are reflecting the texture of the stucco on the wall. Pretty Cool image!!!

Hope things get better Norm

Yep, that's all it is. Stucco finish on the house. The blades are so bright that anything that gets near them is reflected. It would be cool if they really looked that way though!

Thanks to all for your good wishes. Looks like I am about gone now, which is probably just as well. The trick is now to get out on my own before I get canned.

Regards,

Norm

Crappy about the job situation, I had a "jammer" 4 mounths ago and my ultimate boss is pondering putting me out to pasture. I don't know what he's thinking and I will be happy till he tells me not to bother any more...till then, Pass out the Khuks ( I have enough to juggle now) :D

Beautiful Norm. I think that antler pair are great together. Has anyone ever had a scabbard made for two khuks?

Lol, you know I did consider that first, but discounted it. Kinda cool finish though
