Here are 2 hawks that I just completed for some very patient customers. The first is cable Damascus and curly maple. The second was a ball pein hammer and hickory. Thanks for looking.

Both turned out Great! How did you go about making the one out of cable? It looks like it welded up fine. What size cable did you start with?

Thanks for the compliments.
Ray I start with 1.5" cable and weld it into 1/4" X 1.5" X 7" billets. Then I make the 2 halves of the hawk and then forge weld the 2 halves together. I'll try to post a link of how Dan Winkler told me to do it.

I couldn't find the link but luckily I printed the e-mail that I received from Mr. Winkler. I would like to say that I was impressed that Dan would take the time to help me out when I was learning to make hawks. He did not have to do that and I am grateful for his help.

Bear, I get +/-$140.00 for a plain carbon steel hawk with a hickory handle and the cable damascus ones run about $225.00+/-.

I like them both, but the cable hawk really lights my fire!

Nice work,
