Well after some mailing hiccups with Canada post my new to me Fat Ash showed up followed directly by my Basic 8...These feel great in the hand and I must say that I am surprised the Basic wasn't longer.

Now the tough question..use them or save them...mmmph.....use them it is. Action pics to follow.

This will be awesome.

Congrats on the pair.

I'm a fan of the edge they have on those 8's:thumbup:

Thanks guys...been busy so far all weekend with dance recital for my kids and I just returned home from work in Korea thursday morning and still feeling the jet lag so I hope to get a few action pics of them in the next day or 2. So far the basic 8 is a stand out. Awesome edge and ergos...be fiddling with them a both a little. The weight of the 8 is surprising. I honestly was expecting a heavier blade. It feels the same as my sykco 711 but is much better all around and I am sure will be well suited to the big blade role in my hiking pack.

The ash is awesome and feels nice too but I think it might have to sit on the shelf for a while....looks too pretty to use even thought it will handle anything I throw at it.

Now I need a good excuse for the wife for me to get out of the house and take a day hike or trip on the side by side in the woods for a day or two and test out this steel and see how it preforms and try a few different combos. I am thinking the Basic 8 and either my sob or anniversary mean street edition would make a good woods combo. Not too much weight but lots of functionality.
