Here are some updated pictures of my best outdoors knife, the clip scout.
These were taken prior to last week's sheltie outdoor adventure:

Notice how awesome the ebony looks.

Great pics. The ebony looks fantastic. Can't wait to see it dirty!

John,
Of course!

Protourist,
That IS it dirty! None of my JK knives have stained, as of yet.
Actually, there is a little patina on my one tin knife, but it looks like it belongs there, if you know what I mean.

I coat all of my knives with car wax, followed by mineral oil, which is allowed to dry.
My handles are soaked in lemon oil overnight, then also allowed to dry, followed by a buffing.

After use, they get wiped down again. I do not store in the leather sheath, but I treat the sheaths with mineral oil and silicon (inside) just to be sure.

The only two miniscule bits of rust that have appeared on my scout (down by the guard) were easily flitzed off.

With this one, I have not treated the handles after the initial care. As a result, the handle is a little less 'black', and more ultra dark brown in spots. Also, more grain is showing. I assume this is thru handling, and contact with my skin's oil. Gives it more 'character', in my eyes.

rooikat, I hope the RUSK get some patina; it would looks great with a nice dark patina IMHO. Also can't wait for my clip scout jr.

Sent you an email yesterday about your Scout Jr. As soon as I hear back from you I will be starting on it.

I was also thinking of the possibility of getting a second RUSK with a 'as forged' finish blade, and a darker handle, maybe ebony. You know, for that tactical look.
I believe that would be a good combination.
