I had a customer who wanted one of my SF1's but be wanted one that was bigger than what I normally make (small, medium, large). So I make a SF1 XL and just because I thought I would be cool I made an SF1 XXL, I figured if I was going to make a really big one then I might as well make a REALLY big one.
The one that was an order is the SF1 XL, 15" OAL it is 1/4" 5160 with green micarta and white liners and has a 1500 grit hand rubbed finish that you can see yourself in.
The SF1 XXL is 17" OAL it also is 1/4" 5160 but has black micarta handles and red liners. it is mirror polished and I brought the grind up to the spine plus tapered the tang to remove as much weight as possible. Believe it or not the XXL is considerably lighter than the smaller XL . this knife feels great in the hand and is easy to wield. Because the XXL was to long I had to quench it in a tub instead of a bucket this caused the blade to re-curve a little, I thought about fixing it but the slight curve grew on me and I think it looks pretty cool.
