Great pictures, thanks for sharing. Did you reprofile the BK9 or something? That kind of deformation shouldn't happen on wood. Or maybe it was a faulty heat treat...?

I agree with Dan57. That BK9 appears to have a bad heat treat to me. I have batoned through quite a bit of frozen wood before (situation dictated) and suffered no damage at all. You do have some sweet blades though!

No edge work at all, stock bk9, I also thought it might be faulty heat treat. For the price it happens..why my blade tho?

Have you talked to the guys at Becker/Ka-Bar yet? They have a forum here, y'know.

No, haven't talked to anyone at kabar about it.....didn't know they had a forum. I'll check it out maybe post some better pics of the damage over there.
