I notice on e bay a couple of Schrade "Transition" knives.
It appears these were cobbled together from parts picked up at the sale of the items from the factory, after the close-down.
Is it possible that maybe "Transition" means from my pocket to theirs?

Good one, Del.

Unreal that knives that should be called 'seconds' are selling as collectibles.

Often seconds become quite collectable especially real odd ball stuff. These I believe would fit more into a catagory of rebuilds or non factory constructions. Frankly I do not see any thing wrong with selling knives like this AS LONG AS THE SELLER STATES CLEARLY that this is what the knife is. I have a lot of blades and parts and I sell them. I do not make knives. However a lot of people enjoy making them and I would guess some would sell them. Most people I know customize and just mess around I guess some people got hold of lots of this stuff ( like smokey ) and sent them out probably over seas and made a business out of it. There is a candy striped Schrade double on ebay right now. When I first saw the pic I immediately questioned whether the handles were original. Then I read the ad and the fellow states that there were no returns on the article since he felt the handles might have been replaced. I applaud him that is the way a rebuilt antique like that should be advertised. The knife will not bring anything like the original however It is quite pretty and well restored who know I may bid it myself. Time after time items are put on the bay and are misrepresented mostly by people just not knowing and often on purpose to get a better price. I have often thought about doing a thread on these on purpose or not Boo Boos. Even the word transition would not be to bad if they would explain what it really ment as Del pointed out. LT
