Some newbie questions about my CQC7.

I just bought my first Emerson a couple days ago (a CQC7 with a black tanto blade, un-waved version).

I've got a couple questions though. First off, where is the serial number? The only number present on the blade is 2001 which is located under the words "Emerson Knife Inc. USA" and I'm assuming 2001 is the year not the serial number. But there is no other numbers anywhere on the knife.

Also this is my first liner lock, I've come from a long line of Spydie's. Is the liner lock supposed to be kinda tuff to disengage? Sometimes it requires quite a bit of force to disengage it so I can shut the knife. Is this normal for liner locks, or is it just the way Emerson's are, or is there something wrong?

Thanks for any and all help.

Some (not all) liner locks are like this. Just a break in period. It will get smoother and easier to disengage in time. There's an insert that comes in the box that says something along those lines.

No clue about the serial number though. I'm sure John will be along shortly to help with that.

EKI used to serailize the first batches of knives and then the rest would go unserialzed. Just recently did they start serialized just about everything.
