Nice collection. :tu: What size is that small siru? I really like it the best something about that one calls to me. maybe the gentle curve...................

Thanks for the pics.

Those are some nice looking blades. I especially like the two barongs, the patina on the bottom one is very nice.

Just was ilbruche said! They all look great, but my favorites are the two barongs and the Al Mar copy. Neat stuff.

I don't have a Barong. I was at my friends house up north a few weeks ago talking about knives, and he pulled an old knife out from under the bed that his Dad brought back from WWII. It was a Barong. The wood scabbard has not been taken care of, but the blade and handle have been very well protected. It was a real beauty, but he thought of it as just an old beater.

I'll have to trade him a "modern" kukri for the old useless thing. :D

The Philipino blades are interesting. My father in law served in WWII and brought home two blades, ones that look very much like #1 and #3 from the top. Ornate pieces however. I hold those blades very dear to me as he has now passed away. He was in the 41st division all the way through the disbanding after walking through Hiroshima.

What details can you give us of your Katana?

The blade is forged welded steel cable (26.5" long), handle is 11.5" long (full same wrap with silk tsuka ito, tsuba is made of iron. Oh yeah, the blade pattern is similar to the unokobi zukuri blades.

My friend Michael Bell made the entire sword for me. He can make blades in his own home made tamahagane steel or in forged cable. I went with the cable blade because it cuts better through various targets. :)

Very very VERY cool stuff, and thanks.

Can you ID some?

Mike
