Some of my favorite carbon fiber

The sprint run Paramilitary 2 in CF was the first time I have handled Spyderco's carbon fiber. I've had some custom folders with CF scales before, and they were all very slick, not the greatest attribute for a user. That turned me off CF for a while, until I got hold of the Para 2. Got to say I really, really like the way Spyderco does CF, its very grippy, light and rigid.

I liked it so much so that I tracked down a CF BG42 Military and an S90V Military. Just thought I would share a pic or two of my current Spyderco CF collection. Had to use the cell phone for the pics...

Nice, nice, nice. I've got a few Spyderco CF's, but none with the texture that's on your blades. Kinda makes me feel like a need one:)

I think spyderco's best looking CF is on the older Michael Walker Lightweight.

But I think you need to round out your peel-ply collection with a manix II and a stretch.

hey, mapper, nice trio you got there
here's mine ;)

Spyderco's peel ply CF is probably my favourite handle material, shortly followed by the woven twill found on Sage1

Excellent blades, brj. ;)

I'll have to check out the woven twill. How is the 'grippiness' on that? Just from pics I have seen, seems a little slippery.

while the peel-ply CF might be more grippy and functional, I, personally, like the CF on the Sage 1 and Gayle Bradley, followed by the Caly 3. On the Sage and GB, it has more of a 3D effect that really pops and stands out.

After much debate, I finally ordered my first carbon fibre Spydie... the Sage 1. It came down to the Kopa, the Gayle Bradley and the Sage; in the end, good ol' EDC utility won out (the GB was just a little too hefty for my intended use, and the Kopa was just a tad too small.)

Probably means that I'll just be buying the others somewhere down the road... :)

The textured CF weave is smooth to the touch but the difference is that every block is raised so it creates a fairly grippy surface in a different way. I never thought it lacked traction and I carried the Sage 1 daily for a year.

Man makes me wish I had my collection of CF spydies!
[[sorry for the crappy cell phone pic]]
