I think this is some of the best fossil walrus ivory I have seen. May be better out there but I like this one and hope you do. Blade is my Damascus of 15n20 and 1080 with nickel silver fittings. Blade length is 9 3/8 inches and over all is 14 1/2. Of course, fossil Walrus Ivory. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking.

That is quite a knife! And you are correct, that is a most interesting piece of ivory.

Thanks folks. Kevin, I dont have a picture of that one but wish I did because when you start sanding its like Christmas as you know your going to get something good. You just dont know how good. Here are some pieces that need cleaning up in the raw. 2 of them are Inuit Indian scrapers and the 3rd may have been a fire starter as on the other side is a small crevice. May or may not have been one. I will know after sanding though. I made one last week where I used a fire starter in the raw and left it that way (I did clean it and a little polish but that was all). Last picture.

^ Thanks Dan.
I always find it interesting and educational to see beautiful ivory in it's raw state.

Even considering the characteristics that one can look for in trying to determine what the finished
ivory may look like, it's really not much more that a guess.

I think Don Hanson has some sort of X-ray vision that allows him to see the finished ivory through all the dirt/grime and distressed bark.

Funny but very true!

That ivory looks like a good ice cream bar, Yumm..

Fine piece of work!

Beautiful knife, and I like the stand as well!

Kind regards,

Jos

SWEET looking knife Dan, and that is some beautiful walrus ivory. Amazing what fossilization creates in colors and patterns within.

The ferrule is really nice on the bowie also.

Folks, here is some more that I have that is going to be nice. I just hope the color goes deep because I need to shape a little.
