I thought that I would post about some of the best sharpening videos I've seen. He is a gentleman from Japan, and is an avid deer hunter. Most of his videos on sharpening deal with traditional hand sharpening. He as some excellent reviews on various knives as well. He does have a bit of a heavy accent, but I got used to it pretty quickly. What's great about most of his sharpening videos is that he puts the blades under a microscope to examine and explain the edge condition. He covers everything from waterstones to stropping and deals a lot with convex edges ( including convexing an edge on stones).

He also has an extensive knife collection, and most are of the higher end variety. His test videos can drag on a bit, especially the chopping tests, but I just forward through the video a bit. He really seems to be a master of this art.

If you are interested, you can find his YouTube channel here:

If you are looking for a specific knife or technique, just do a quick search on his channel or browse his videos. I've found several great videos on the BK2 and various Bark River knives which I really enjoyed. He has many other videos on various outdoor gear and equipment as well. Overall, a great YouTube channel to burn up some time with..

Wako's channel is full of information. Especially on strops and their use. I can't say following all his techniques is advisable. But they are very entertaining. Some of the stuff he does makes me cringe though. I'm surprised he has working elbows with all the time he puts in on stones. Being a doctor helps I guess. Nice guy all around and informative on a variety of subjects. I always enjoy watching them.

Hellooo, knife people! I love this guy and his videos. I have watched several of them and they contain good information, well organized content, great how to advice and he is a user, not a talker. He lives the outdoor life of a hunter and really enjoys taking care of his tools, experimenting and researching his techniques. Well worth the time invested in watching. He has hundreds of videos of different knives, stones, methods and techniques on every subject near and dear to a knife lovers heart.

I actually own that BK2 that he spent so much time putting a convex edge on. I was talking to him through youtube and he offered to sell it to me so I scooped it up. He's a real stand-up guy and I really enjoy his videos. Knowing how much time and energy he spent on that knife making it perfect just makes it that much better to me. It's one of those knives that I never consider selling when I'm wanting something else and think about selling a few off. :)
