I don't think they make pills for it but maybe a 12 step program. I like knives and think everybody should carry one. If I hang out here to much I'll end up having way to many

I think I'll eventually just run out of space for knives.... there's always storage.

Consider how some of us have been Collecting and Accumulating. If someone started when they were ten years old and now they're 40, even if they bought only one knife per month on average they'd now have 360.

I'm confident you can catch up if you put your mind to it. :)

I have to keep my addiction in check. I only keep 4 folders at a time. If I want a new model I force myself to sell or trade one off. I've been collecting folders since '96 so I've had just about every model...

Knifeaholics twelve-step program? What would that look like?

1. We admitted we were powerless over knives — that our knives had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of Bladeforums forum members as we understood them.
4. Made a searching and fearless inventory of our knife collections.
5. Admitted to Bladeforums, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our cutlery obsession.
6. Were entirely ready to have Bladeforums remove all these defects of character.
7. Humbly asked a Psychiatrist to remove our inappropriate attachment to sharp objects.
8. Made a list of all coworkers, soccer moms, etc who were offended by our knife carrying, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
10. Continued to take inventory of our cutlery drawers and when we were buying too many damn knives promptly admitted it.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with Bladeforums users as we understood them, praying only for knowledge of sweet cutlery deals on eBay and the power of the exchange section.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to knifeaholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

If you're really serious about moderating your collection, you might try imparting a theme to it. Genuine Applegate-Fairbarn daggers, or authentic Italian swithcblades, Randall mades, authentic Case knives, Schrades from the original factory, or just about any other theme you can think of. If you do it right, you can spend thousands on each knife, assuring that you have maximum money tied up in minimum space!

My problem is not only do I like to collect them, I like to sharpen and play with them. Then I can't even re-sell them as LNIB, because I've been playing with them!!!

But man do I love sharpening and testing sharpness. I think I have a problem...

Yeah, I understand that somebody (maybe Washita?) makes stones in the 10,000 grit range. Now you can filet paper!

That's the sillyest thing I've ever heard! ;)
