Some people wanted to see the bowie I was working on that I posted in a thread a while back about michael walker commenting on my photo on instagram, so here it is all finished!
3.5 inch 1095 blade with brown linen micarta handles, black paper micarta bolster and liners, and a 1095 guard.
I thought it turned out pretty good considering I initially felt like I had bit off more than I could chew. The sheath did not turn out too great because I still have not got the hang of leather work yet. Let me know what you guys think!

Looks Waaay better than the first " real knife " I ever made, no way could I do that good of a job on the handle.

All I did was grind on an old file and stick it in a Craftsman screwdriver handle.

Looks darned good to me. I've never made a knife, and if that one was my first effort I'd be very proud. Good work!

Looks great! I wouldn’t even know where to begin if I tried to make a knife. Nice work

If ya want to up the leather lots of help over in Sheaths and Such.

Thank you everyone! Defenetly not the first knife I made haha. I have made over a dozen or so now, been doing it for right at a year now. I hope it is still looks good even though its not my first one lol

How do you get into doing something like this? I would love to take a class or something like that.. but no idea where I would begin.

well done. impressive.

hard to see on phone... full flat ground small primary bevel on it?

Oh, in that case then it sucks.

LOL, just kidding. It still looks good. Very impressed.

Well im disabled and basically spend my time going to school and physical therapy because I don't work. I saw A small saw blade one day and decided to make a couple small knives.
Here is the first knives I made

I got some bigger saw blades and made a couple more and people wanted tp start buying them because I was already sharpening blades for different people, so I decided to dive into it and buy some more equipment and here I am! haha I eventually started buying my own steel and different handle materials and made a little buisiness out of it you could say.

Yes sir! Im a c4 quadriplegic and have pretty severe hand and arm impairment so im still working on getting my grinds right, but im getting there lol. Im too stubborn to use a jig,
im sorry to hear that. i dont know what c4 means. gotcha. thanks for the followup on the grind and geometry. its appreciated.

im very impressed. really great job on it. keep up the work.......

Good looking working knives. I was impressed before you mentioned your impairment. Now I'm amazed. Keep at it. They are only going to get better and we want to see.

Really like the that knife in the beginning of the thread, ready for action.

My only critique, which is based solely my own personal taste, and not so much the knife making itself, is that for a bowie it seems a bit small to me, Blade vs handle ratio wouldn't suit my own taste for a bowie. But other then that, awesome job, keep up the great work!

My best advise, cut up some saw blades, have a waterbottle handle and cut out the design you want, being carefull not to overheat the steel! Thats how I started and trust me large circular saw blades are plenty hard enough to make a good knife. I went a while without even using pins in the handles and just really good prep before putting the handles on without problems. Oh and you will want a grinder for sure, but you can get into this for under a 100 bucks and make pretty nice knives!
