I finally rummaged around in my Bucks and found I have enough 1 liners to fill a display, and a few duplicates as well. I'm still working on first year factory knives & the other barrel-nuts. I thought you guys might enjoy a picture of these that range between 1963 and 1966, and this display insert is very hard to find.

Very nice collection. What is the drop point with the tip down in the photo? Those are all hand forged, correct?

Darn, leave you guys unsupervised and look what you'll post . Great display Scott ! Nine of them babies . Wolf, the drop point you inquired about is a 116 Caper hard to find these days . I think these knives were made from stock removal method of 440C blade steel . The grind lines are much softer on these models . DM

DM, thanks for the info.

Knice nives as always Scott, I'd like to see some open pics of the old 110.

The 116 holds a special place in my heard. A buddy of mine snow birds for the winter down south and pedals his car care products at flea markets and such. Knowing that I love and carry Buck knives, he called me one day and asked what I knew about a Buck 116 and I told him "not a darn thing" A guy had one at the table next to him for 10 bucks. I told him buy it for me. I then proceeded to try and find info on it which lead me to this forum... and some 1000 post later, you havent been able to get rid of me:D Thanks guys, youve been great. The 116 is in good but not great shape, I want to send it to Leroy with a couple others that need some attention and hopefully it will look close to the one in Scotts pic.

*sigh* :<) takes me back to the day i bought my first folding hunter...*sigh*
thanks for that almost tearful moment!

Wonderful bunch of knives, Scott.

Where and how did you come by the display case?

They must be getting hard to find.

That sure is nice...very classy classic. You have really got some great Buck knives, Scott, I never tire of seeing them. Preston

Nicest display of those knives i've ever seen, very neat to have that display case too,all of those are 440c?

Scott:

That's a fine collection. It make me very envious. I've tried to put one like it together but always my ship sinks one the reef of acquiring the 116 one liner and the early 110. Also should point out that while all of my knives, except the 121 spine stamp, are barrel nuts, not all are the earliest barrel nuts since not all have the leather spacers.

I have previously stated that my artistic abilities are very limited, thus the distortion to cut out as much of the light reflection as possible.

The set does include, although the display case does not accomodate the 210 set, all 8 barrel nuts including the 210 twinset. They include the 120, 119, 110 (later renumbered 103), 105, 118 and 102 and the 210 twinset. finally, the 121 spine stamp is in there to fill the space, though obviously not a 1961-1962 knife.

Those empty spaces in my 1962-1963 set for the 116 and 110 folder haunt me even more now that I see your set. I might add that all of yours appear to be mint. You can see that my 1961-1962s are not all mint--nor are all of my 1962-1963s. Those nasty empty spaces for the 116 and the 110 is yet another reason that your set causes me further envy. But that is the joy of collecting and the hunt. Again, yours is a beautiful set.:thumbup:

Telechronos:):):)

Glad you guys like the display & knives, I knew you would :)

These are all 440c, and I will have to look up the date that Buck stopped using the forged steel from Landish.

Telecronos, nice knives. The first & second year factory knives are tough to find these days, but I'll be patient, because good things come to those who wait:thumbup:

Great display Tele . I like it a lot . I would love to see both of you guys display those at a show . Scott, I am interested in that date as well . I thought it was the barrel nut models but it could be all the early 1960's models . DM

I found my old email from Joe, as he remembers, Buck had ended the forged 440C from Landish Forgings, for fixed blade knives, by 1967, but there is little documentation.
