Some oldies and a couple questions?

Out of my vintage chef knives I have a couple that I am a little curious of knowing more about. First I have an Ontario Knife co Old Hickory chef knife with a 12 inch blade. I have yet to see another 12 inch chef out there like mine. Were the 12 in chef knives by Ontario popular and abundant?
Also my case 400-8 XX has what looks llike raised bubble formations on the blade. They are raised and not patina marks, has any ssen that before and is therd an explanation for them?
