As promised, here are a few pics of my Izula after some general use and getting it's own patina. The patina mostly came from apples that I cut up for my daughter and I. Some of it came from seeing how well it cut through a ham sandwich with mayo, mustard, cheese, and onions. Mmmm...

Also, a friend from across the lake (in the Netherlands) sent me a Kydex sheath for my Izula after I commented about how much I liked the one he made for his pink one. Thanks Piet! Much love brother!

Anyway, on to the pics...

For the record I've not seen even one spec of rust even if I haven't put light oil on it. 1095 is good stuff period. I think we all worry a bit too much about rust.

Nice pics. You're pushing me that much closer to stripping my Izula blade. The Izula and kydex are made for each other aren't they?

Your Izula looks great, and I like your sheath also. Why did you leave the coating on the handle?

Yes.........they are. :)

I didn't want to bother with having to deal with trying to prevent rust on the handle under paracord that may become wet at times. ;)

I spray white lithium grease on steel AK mags and on rifles that are stored (and not touched) for long periods of time, this has worked well for me. I also have used silicone spray on machete blades, I let the silicone spray dry on the blade, I used the machete in the rain and I did not wiped blade down before storing in my trunk, a week later no rust issues at all.

I love that sheath.

Nothing wrong with people that like to keep their knives pretty. Nothing wrong with people that want to make their knives look old. What ever makes you happy. :)
