Just wanted to point a little detail out for those of you who might be "watching" a 2OT somewhere;), all the models I've seen have worked liners on the backspring side. If they're not present, it could be a sign that they were ground down during "cleaning". There is the possibility that the step was omitted in some cases, but as I've said I have yet to see a vintage specimen with smooth liners. It's probably a minor detail in light of the rest of the knife, but I just thought I'd put it out there for those who are looking for an example with all the original features. Here's what I'm talking about:

Nice tip Eric. Kind of gets the gears turning a bit. Some may not notice that, even if they knew. I've never seen one minus the milling either.

..I feel you may be right Eric.....telepathically speaking mate.....photos of the Real McCoys on the left with the original 1930's version on the right without milling.....maybe some switcherooies?.....you would be hard pressed to buff out complete milling of liners IMO.......Hoo Roo
P.S. My backsprings are naturally shiny on the real McCoys and have never had a cloth near them <straight from the Schrade Conferance Room wall collection>..the 1930's version are dull ..just like those....?

Larry, it's not a very deep cut on those liners, I dare say with the right belts and abrasives they could be wiped clean in under a minute. Why someone would do that just to make everything shiny is beyond me, but as you said, it may well be that the liners on that particular knife are holdovers from the Cut. Co. days. Likely we'll never know, I do suspect that it may have been the third time that particular knife was up for sale, but I didn't save any of the pics from the previous auctions, so I'm not sure.:grumpy:

That's quite a triplet you have there. You weren't holding 'em between your legs when you took the pic, were you?:D:D

...in answer to your question Eric..no they werent, I cant take photos for nuts in that position......:D
This is my EDU 2OT.....<what?.. doesn't everyone?:p> and you cant see any milling at all on its very used back spring liners.....so I would say that example we can now talk about had been heavily buffed to look """"almost mint""""!
I lend my 2OT to mates to cut lots of things and always get it back cos they have no idea what it is over here.;)..Hoo Roo
