This was the best first time show I have ever attended. Visitors kept coming in right up to the closing bell, only one make left early.
The folks who came to the show were a super freiendly bunch of people, thanking us for coming to their show, I can't rememver visitors making that statement in that volume for a long time. There were very few slack times.
I don't know how many new makers with very honest working knives came to my table and asked for my opinion but there were a lot. This question was normally prefaced with "Please don't sugar coat it, I want to know what you honestly think." While they appreciated the good thoughts, they actually wanted to know how to make them work better both by design and construction.
We plan to go back next year, the promoters of the show really worked at making it a good one. Lodging prices were the lowest I have seen in years. There was a gun show and flea market going on at the same time, the promotors of the show had a table at the gun show selling tickets to the knife show for half price, there was a lot of advertising and it seemed like the whole city knew about the knife show going on.
It was a real down home atmosphere show for us and I believe there was a knife there for anyone who wanted one to fit their needs and pocket book. Dwight Towell, and Bernard Sparks were there with their wives, I have not seen them at a show for years and visiting their knives and them was good times for me.
I am working on a new computer that is without spell check so apologise for any spelling errors.
