Hi all,

I went in to work today to monkey around with the yag marking laser. I wrote a program to draw a fish scale type of pattern and my Centofante 3 became the guinea pig. Thought you guys might like to see how it turned out. I think I'll try zapping the micarta scales on my Schemp persian next :)

WHOA!! That's cool. Is it just a pattern for decoration or is it cut into the zytel?? Pretty neat.

The lasering made the handle a little more grippy, but since I didn't etch it very deep it's mostly for decoration I guess.

Very nice, lets see that on SS
I've already zapped the stainless bolsters and handles on a few of my knife kits. The yag laser at work does well on all metals that I've tried so far and most plastics. It has kind of random/crappy results on fibrous materials like wood and bone.

I would think you could make some extra cash doing that on the clips of Calypso jrs.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I haven't tried doing a spider pattern yet. The laser that we have is over 10 years old and the software if pretty basic. I have to hand code all of the lines and arcs, so complex designs take awhile to do.

Here's a couple more pics. The first one is a shot of the edge of the handle on my Centofante. The second one is a typhoon balisong kit that I put together awhile back.
