I always enjoy seeing pics of other makers shops, big or small. I did some spring cleaning today and decided I'd take a few pics of my shop to post up. My shop isn't too big and I'm quickly running out of room. Two things not pictured but already have all the parts purchased are high temp salts and a small steel- top welding table. After that, I'll pretty much be out of room. Anyway here they are.

Here's the 'hot' corner. I will soon have my good fisher anvil and a better stand instead of this anvil. You can see my 7 gal. ammo can quench tank full of parks 50.

An amazingly efficient and sweet running forge from Dave Lisch

Under the left side of the bench is a large chunk of desert ironwood I got off ebay for $40. Still need to cut into blocks

My 1.5 HP variable Burr King. Has it's issues (mainly takes a bit to change to small wheel) but I don't think I've seen a smoother quieter grinder.

This round table is a huge cable spool I found out in the woods. Mounted on casters and very easy to wheel around.

Use this one to cut large chunks of wood into blocks and saw scales.

There it is. It's not too roomy but I have to make do with what I've got.

Looks roomy to me. Well more than mine for sure.
And as much as I like cleanliness, that mill is WAY too clean. ;)

Thanks for sharing!

Looks nice.

I would suggest that you do something about the forge as soon as you can. All that unsealed kaowool is not a good thing .
While it may not make any difference now, breathing fibers can be really bad years down the road.

Way too clean and way too organized.....how do you get anything done?

Seriously, great shop!

Looks good, you have everything you need and arranged nicely. Love the large cable spool on casters, great idea for a movable table.

That's a nice looking shop! It looks like you can do everything you need to efficiently in there, thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys. Usually it looks like I dropped a mason jar full of nitroglycerin in there. A couple times a year, when I can no longer move around or find anything in there, I take a whole saturday and clean it up good and organize it. It's pretty nice for the few days it stays in that condition.

Patrice, this could be largely due to the fact that yesterday was the first day I got the mill on the stand and turned it on. It's pretty new. :)

Stacy, thanks for the advice. This actually bugs me everytime I fire the forge up. I keep thinking I need to do something. What could I use to coat it with so that it still is soft and seals around the openings to prevent heat loss?

By the way the inside is completely coated with satanite then ITC-100 over it, so the inside is good to go.

Great shop, your grinder really does it for me. I love Burr Kings. Your forge has an interesting burner on it, and a monster hearth.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the pics.

Thanks for posting the pics. I love walking around someones shop and checking out all the cool tools. This is about the next best thing.

Nice!! Love the spool round table. Great idea. Your shop looks really well organized and well equipped. I've used one of Dave's forges before and you're right, they work really well.
Thanks for the photos.

Nice shop, but one major problem: you can't have your new milling machine in the same shop as your forging equipment. Tell ya what, I'd be willing to store it in my shop for free. Bring it over any time and we'll set it up. No, it's okay, no need to thank me.

Hey John,

If (?) you do your regular satanite coat, there won't be too much heat escape to worry about. You could let the satanite cure against a flat surface like scrap ply with some kind of release
so that it matches up closely with the brick door. When the stuffing gets smaller and smaller, it's blowing somewhere.

Thanks for the shop tour, Craig
