I just got a new EDC knife and finally got a chance to break it in this weekend with my son.
The knife is Stomper"s Anniversary EDC. Mine has a 3" blade and is 6 1/2" OAL. 1/8" thick O1.(It is dirty in the pic,John didn't send it that way)
Even with the on-going baton thread here, I decided to do it anyway. I broke up a piece of deadwood into several fire sized pieces and split it with the EDC.
Worked great,no problems.
I moved on to build a Figure 4. I did use my SAK's saw to cut the sapling to lenth. But used the EDC for everything else. Works great making notches.
My completed Figure 4
It is crude but stable. And when tripped performed well.
The knife then performed well making wood chips with my son, enough to fill a few 10 pound bags.
After he was done trying to dull it I tried my hand at making curls.
All in all It was great having fun outdoors with my son, and seeing that my new every day carry knife performs as expected.
