There is a video at YT about annual Sebenza and the maker of the video holds a list of annual Sebenza made, by year and mentioning the inlay material. Very interesting. Just typed it down from a screenshot. Not sure whether this is kind of an official list or whether he collected this information on his own research. The 1st question: Is this information correct/complete?

1999
California Buckeye, Box Elder Burl

2000
Desert Ironwood, African Blackwood

2001
California Buckeye, Maple Burl, Desert Ironwood, Bocote

2002
California Buckeye, Desert Ironwood

2003
Curly Maple, Bocote, California Buckeye, Box Elder Burl, Redwood Burl, Maple Burl, Snakewood, Desert Ironwood

2004
California Buckeye, Maple Burl, Snakewood

2005
Snakewood, Desert Ironwood, Amboyna, Mammoth Ivory

2006
Redwood Burl, Mammoth Ivory, California Buckeye, Snakewood, Box Elder Burl, Maka, Amboyna

2007
Black Palm, American Plane, Mammoth Ivory, Amboyna, Walnut

2008
Bubinga, Satinwood, Mammoth Ivory

2009
Thuya, Box Elder Burl

2010
Spalted Maple, Camphor

2011
Wenge Wood w. 18K Gold and Argentium silver inlay

2nd question I have is about the quantities made. I've heard that they always made 60 pcs. per year and inlay material. Does it mean 60 large and 60 small? Or 30/30?

3rd question: Did they incorporate into each and every run a certain number of Sebenza with damascus blade? Or are there also runs of a particular year and/or particular inlay material without having damascus blade knives in it?

4th question: Did they have an exact quantity/lot out of the 60, which are made with damascus blade? For instance always 10 out of 60 or something like that?

That's it with my questions. Thanks for some help.

Interesting is that if you put the list together in a different order, by inlay material, it appears that some inlay materials were used quite often (California Buckeye on top), whereas others were used only once or twice:

California Buckeye – 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006

Box Elder Burl – 1999, 2003, 2006, 2009

Desert Ironwood – 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005

African Blackwood - 2000

Maple Burl – 2001, 2003, 2004

Bocote – 2001, 2003

Curly Maple - 2003

Redwood Burl – 2003, 2006

Snakewood – 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006

Amboyna – 2005, 2006, 2007

Mammoth Ivory – 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008

Maka - 2006

Black Palm- 2007

American Plane - 2007

Walnut – 2007

Bubinga - 2008

Satinwood - 2008

Thuya - 2009

Camphor - 2010

Spalted Maple - 2010

Wenge Wood w. 18K Gold and Argentium silver inlay - 2011

Best,
Stefan

I have a list in my CRK timeline I believe several pages in. Though it's not as complete as this listing. Feel free to add it there as well. I only have 2 large annuals, while I know of people that have dozens. A quick search around here will help you find more info but this list looks to be pretty accurate from what I know of them. Thanks for sharing and again, feel free to add it to the history timeline.

Thanks for your advise. Maybe we wait here until some further information arrives and copy this later to the timeline thread.

Thanks for the list Stefan... It's good to have this as a reference. However, it makes me realize how many years I am still missing on the Annual Sebenza...

:-))

Me too ..... Just got my 1st one. Well. Sometimes in life we are too late for something. This goes definitely for elder Sebenza :-)

I don't know whether it is a realistic target these days, trying to find one piece for each year. Interesting, but veeeeeeery challenging and veeeeery expensive :-)

I am just enjoying the one I have now and if another one crosses my way, I'll be happy to grab it. But I wouldn't put myself under such pressure to strife for completeness in respect to anual Sebenza.

Well said. It's a bit sad really that we we're too late in collecting CRKs before they discontinued the Annuals.

I am also currently not actively looking for Annuals. But somehow got lucky again and my 3rd one just landed in my pm inbox the other day, Just got notification that it was already delivered to my house a couple of minutes ago.

Thanks again to a wonderful member here who generously gave me the chance to own not one but 2 beautiful Annuals...:D:D

I have an '04 large Desert Ironwood. This list doesn't show that option.

I tried at one point to collect a whole set, but never got a 2000 or a 2004:grumpy:

Nice list, thanks for sharing!

I don't have that many Annuals left but from the ones I have owned, my favorite was the 2011 Large.

I owned two of the 2011, and couldn't get past the gold dots... I love the annuals with lots of character in the wood grain, because the one solid piece really shows it off!

Dinokay, saw your Annual collection on an old thread and I have to say that you have some really beautiful gems... [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

Wow. Great news! Which one is it? Which year and which inlay? Large or small? Congratulations my friend.

The new one I just got in the mail today is a Small 2009 Box Elder. [emoji16]

The other 2 are Small 1999 bg42 w/ California buckeye and Large 2010 Spalted Maple...

Yes, Mr. Longstreet, thanks very much for that information. I am new to the Sebenza fanaticism, and your list provided much to my education. Too late in life? Who wants to have everything while young? Nice to have some new horizons at any age. And your signature? After the Confederate General?

Don't know what I was thinking when I let that one go but here's a better picture of your Annual, congrats it's a beautiful Piece.

Aesthetics aside, the scales on the 11 just work for me, no slipping and sliding because of the texture on the wood, just sticks to your hand.

Thanks for this information. I'll update the above list.

Well spoken. I am age 52. So hopefully a few years left to expand my CR collection.

And yes. That's the James Longstreet I have choosen for my nickname. Watched that dokumentary "Civil War". Besides it is a fantastic documentary, he was a brave man and his name came to my mind the moment when I was registering here.

Best,

Beautiful pieces dinokay! If you get tired of that 1999 and that 2008, I would love to give them a new home... [emoji16]

Gents. This thread is about collecting information regarding the various inlay materials used in certain years and some other questions. Pics are highly appreciated to underline the beauty of those annuals. But this is not the exchange corner of BF.
