Some questions about Spyderco and Manix 2

Please excuse my lack of knowledge of Spyderco.

Early in December I purchased a Benchmade HK 14205 for my father in-law for Christmas. He is left handed so I went to switch the clip to the other side of the knife and noticed one of holes was not tapped. I decided to send it into Benchmade for the fix. On Friday the 22nd on Jan. I found out my knife somehow was lost between the post office and Benchmade.

Last week I purchased a Gayle Bradley knife for my father in-law. He never has carried any sort of quality knife so I bought the Bradley for him. Unfortunately, when I received it I notice it said "Taiwan" on the blade and I thought it was made in Golden CO. I should have researched it better.

Having it say Taiwan on the blade is not something I want to give to him since he is a 35 year union machinist. I am going to keep the knife just because I like it, but I need to get him a USA product. This leads me to my questions.

Is Spyderco going to make a the Manix 2 with carbon fiber handles anymore? I kinda missed the boat on this one and I don't see them in any of the stores. That is a knife that would really fit him and it looks very nice.

Second question is about the Sprint run on the Manix 2. When does that come out, or is it a guessing game?

Thanks
Ty

I'm not sure if Spyderco will make the CF Manix II again, you can find one occasionally on the "Sale" forum here, but don't hold your breath. The Blue Manix II Sprint is expected in February, and there is a Foliage Green Manix II Sprint due sometime during the year, no clue as to when the FG Manix II will drop.

There is a plethora of great Golden, Colorado Sypdercos just look around. I'll bet you can find one you like, or that he will like.

Paramilitary? Great knife, made in Golden. You can use the "country of origin" feature in the Spyderco "catalog" on their website to screen knives by country of origin.

The CF/S90V Manix 2 going rate seems to be in the $225 +/- range. There might be one currently for sale in the for-sale forums here. The upcoming two sprints will get here when they do, but the smurf blue version is already on dealer websites for pre-order so it will probably arrive sooner rather than later.

The strange thing is that most good machinists I have dealt with were more concerned with quality than country of origin.

German, British, Italian, Russian, Japanese, etc. did't matter. Quality of craftsmanship was king.

take a look at Chinook , good strong folder made in Golden ,
back lock easy to use with any hand , and clip can go to any side up or down.

+1. Not buying a knife because of where it was manufactured is a joke.

There are still some people who think "Made in the USA" is very important to find on a product.

I have to replace my Native I lost and I am considering this knife as a replacement.
