Hey guys,

I am looking around for another small and affordable flashlight. Does anyone of you have experience with the Fenix PD10? From pictures it seems that it is about the size of the E01 model. How about the lume? I have read the specs, but how is it in reality?

Another flashlight I saw is the Surefire G2. Looks nice and I read on the forum here that Surefire is a very good brand. The G2 looks larger than the Fenix PD10, more the size of the Fenix LD10 that is my current EDC flashlight. What are your thoughts?

Thanks.

The Fenix PD10 is of similar length to the E01, but it has a wider diameter as it uses a CR123A cell. In max mode, the light is very bright.

The Surefire G2 uses 2 CR123A batteries. It is longer and wider that your LD10. Surefire have a very good reputation with an outstanding warranty on their products. If Surefire interest you, they are about to release a new line of lights as detailed in this thread:

I don't have any experience with either light, though I have seen both of them in person. The G2 is NOT similar in size to your LD10, it's much larger.

EDIT: Beaten to the punch.

The G2 is not regulated, so the output will begin to diminish quickly. It also uses an incandescent bulb, which has a limited lifespan and will break if dropped. The Fenix uses an LED which lasts (virtually) forever, and is regulated so that the output remains constant until the battery is drained.

I would definitely recommend a Fenix or Quark brand light. Pick the size and battery configuration that suits you.

cheers

Keep in mind that the PD10 has a twisty interface, so you will be twisting the head to turn it on and off and to change the modes. If you prefer a switch, they have the PD20 as well, which is about the same size as the PD10.
