Does it come with a pouch?
Weight (in oz)?
Wait (in months)?
Finish options for the blade (I kind of like that tiger stripe)?
Designation/model #?
Is the clip threaded into the liner?

Looks great.
Thanks.

Buck/Strider Folders, tanto or spear point, tiger stripe not availble to my knowledge, hold one, you'll buy it. They are available, call around or call Strider.

Sorry, there is no pouch (from Buck), the clip is not threaded into the liner but according to Mick, its holds very well. I don't know the weight and after holding one I don't care, very good tool.

Are you talking about the Strider custom folder, or the Strider/Buck SB-1 production knife? They are VERY different animals.

Does anyone have answers to the questions on the custom models? Those customs are bad ass. They look like the ultimate folders. But I heard the price is about $300.00 or more. Do I have to sell my blood at the blood bank to get one of these? Does anyone know of a retailer that sells Striders for someone at a more reasonable price?

I am asking about the customs.

rogue_spear, I believe the price is $350. Seems very reasonable, considering that folders generally cost a good bit more than fixed blades.

Guess I'll try to call the shop Monday.

As the owner of one of the first bunch of custom folders, I might be of some insight. Price is $350 from the Strider guys direct. I put my name on their list in Feb of 2000. My knife was ready for delivery about 8 months later. That was due to the fact that they hadn't settled on a final design. I am guessing the wait is more like 5-7 months, but that is just a guess. Is it worth the money? I have to say yes. I will never need another folder. I have gone through several Benchmade folders, an Emerson CQC-7, and a Gerber Applegate-Fairburn combat folder since starting work as a gunner in the end of 1998. All these knives are totally trashed. All together, they more than cover the price of the Strider custom folder. If you use your knife harder than most folks, the Strider can't be beaten! You will save more money in the long run by saving up and getting it done right the first time; opposed to replacing your "cheapies" as they fail. The knife will not fail you under less then superhuman stress! On the miniscule chance you are tougher than the knife, Strider will build you one that will withstand whatever you were doing to destroy the original if at all possible. One other thing, if you are an active duty enlisted type, they will give you a great deal on their tools. Feel free to email me with any more questions. I'll happily provide stories and any details I have about my Striders. I own 5 at this time but plan on owning more. Hope this helps.

I passed on the buck striders. I am saving up for the custom. Problem is I want both the tanto and the clip point customs. Who else sells Striders besides Striders? Please post urls of retailers.

Does anyone have a STRIDER custom folder and let's say an AD and feel that they need both?
I have been contemplating purchasing a folder but already have an AD.
I carry it inside the pants and a LEATHERMAN WAVE on my belt in kydex by MAD DOG. I gave up carring my folders in my pocket altogether. I am of the opinion that a folder is a poor substitute for a fixed blade. The AD, in my opinion, is the very best small fixed blade that I have handled.
I still have an empty pocket though. There is always room for another great knife.

I think that www.tripleaughtdesign.com has some Striders on sale, but not the folder. I have an SA that I carry in my boot at work in conjunction with my folder. Fact of the matter is, you never know when you won't be able to get to the one you always carry in th e same place. I carry one on each side of the body at various distances from the belt enabling me to get a blade out in all kinds of confined positions, i.e. a crushed, burning helo. There is some truth to the statement that a fixed-blade will take more abuse than an average folder. However, the Strider folder is a different kind of animal. If you are unable to get in touch with the guys at the shop, drop me an email. I'll see what info I can dig up for you.

I love the custom folder. It is like having a folding fixed blade (which is exactly what it was designed to do). A fixed blade is always faster to deploy and stronger than a folder. Likewise, I always prefer to carry a rifle; however, that is not always possible. I look at the Strider folder as a great travel knife-I can take it almost anywhere, and basically have a fixed blade level knife, without raising eyebrows. This is all about tool choices and needs. Like Knifebomber, I work in a helo, and I carry a Strider as my primary extraction tool (sometimes two, or......three). Off duty, I usually have a Strider close by, but generally depend on an Emerson Commander. Its a different need. I want something very fast and discreet. I am having a custom kydex sheath made for my Strider custom folder to help tote it around, so I'll report in how it works. I have been carrying it like a wallet in my back pocket.

Thank you for your input. I love this place.
Sounds like I will have to get a folder and give it a test ride. If I don't like it I am sure someone will.
Still, for now anyway I think I am going to get another of the "smaller" fixed blades and carry two.
I too have a COMMANDER and other folders. But the more a carry and handle the AD the more two or even three of these seem to make sense.

Wow.. so are you working out some other concepts or are you making a automatic version of your current folders? I'm no designer of automatic knives,.. but I haven't seen a auto with such a large blade

Hmm, now that I look at the knot again, it looks like that thing you do with uhmm.. those thin pieces of plastic that you braid and put on keychains. I should have realized, hehe. ( It's something I did as a kid .. some arts & crafts shtuff ).
