So I am kind of new here.. been reading the forums like crazy since December and contributing what I can. Hoping to paid membership with next paycheck.. I've used dozens of forums over the years and have never paid to use any of them but I really like the community of people here and would like to help support it. Anyways, I've been thinking of putting a couple knives on the trading block but I have never traded anything over the internet. I was wondering if someone experienced in trading could give me some protips should I decide to give it a go.

I know I should insure my package in the event of loss or damage, but is there anything to protect me against a scenario where my knives are delivered unscathed but I never receive anything in return?

The only real way to insure that you get what intend to trade for,is to have the other person send their part first. If you are highly concerned with an item you are trading, check the feedback of the person you will be trading with. This forum is 99.99% honest, good natured people.

I have traded several items on the "exchange" and have never had any issue. I've traded knives, flash lights, and knife making materials. I typically look at the feedback of the person I'm trading with too. As. "MAJIGY" stated, 99.99% of the people are honest. There are even a few "pass around" forum where members get on a list to use/test a knife that a maker has made. It's operates on the honor system and when a member is finished testing a knife they will send it to the next guy on the list. When it's all said and done, both parties involved in a sale or trade have the same concerns. Honesty, clarity and communication are key factors in my opinion.

Ok thanks guys. Being new, I have no kind of trader feedback of any kind.. is there any rules against linking my eBay feedback as a substitute?

Whatever happens on ebay has no bearing here. We aren't ebay. Give this a read, see if it helps.

I realize it has no real world "bearing" here, just thought it might make someone more comfortable knowing that while I am new here I am not new to internet transactions and have no problem fulfilling my end of a deal. That said, I will leave that out and take a look at the link you provided. Thanks.

As you work on getting POSITIVE FEED Back here by doing deals with other members.
What you can do is when you make a deal with someone - you can show & tell them through private emails more about your self and what you do.....
That way you don't break the rules here and you still let others know more about you.
Make sense?
