I got in on one of the Randy Damascus billet sales has it been a week ago now? I made 3 blades from my 17 inch x 2 inch billet. Hammer forged copper brass into the steel before heat treat. Did an acid etch of my designs. Wax covered design, then acid etched the damas pattern.

One of the blades I just had to fool with and make a knife from to test it out! I used one of my fossil walrus ivory chunks . Custom guard lost wax cast is series of fish. Brass is old barge propeller off the Yukon River. Knife tested out well. Shaves a braising rod to a point and still cuts paper, will cut that same rod in one blow of a hammer on the back of the blade, will flex 20 degrees and back to normal. If it cant pass those minimum tests it goes in the trash. Then I cut my finger. Thats not one of the tests. I usually get told when sold Yea it sits on my shelf and I show everyone its just so cool! I guess thats meant to be a compliment . I ask Well have you like stabbed a buffalo with it yet or anything? Plenty of locals here in Alaska have skinned and butchered moose with my blades but still. Will probably send the knife with a batch headed to Julie at Arizona Knives for consignment sale. Im already looking at my next batch of steel .. but hope showing what I am up to gives others ideas. I know I like to look in and see what others have come up with for handle material, ways to treat steel.
