Here is a hatchet I worked on for a friend. It was a rusty mess with a dry-rotted haft when I got it. I straightened up the blade where it had been worn, put a bit more of a shallow grind on it, and re-hung it on some new hickory. He didn't want a straight hammer type handle on it like it had before. The curved haft gives it more of a tomahawk look. I also re-ground the hammer/poll due to it being mushroomed and uneven. I think it turned out pretty good:
Here is a Super Banko (Sweden) that I bought off Ebay a while back. Got it covered in blue paint, but overall in very good condition. It had a decent grind and bevel to it so I just cleaned it up. Stripped the paint and rehung it. It has a great balance to it...it will definitely be a user.
I might have to find myself a roofers hatchet like the first one I posted...it turned out so nice I want one that I don't have to give back
